After rape incident in Delhi on 16/12/12, lot of awareness seemed to have been created about CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN. For many days people assembles in Delhi at some particular places to express resentment on the incident and also to demand severe punishment for those involved in this particular CRIME, also demanding check on such incidents in future. Agitations to draw attention of the system against such crimes were also held at many places besides Delhi (the place of this incident). Media (Electronic as well as print) gave vide coverage to this incident as well as related agitations. Many of those who could express, gave their views and suggestions by way of EDITORIALS in the news papers. Views by some concerned citizens were also expressed in PANEL DISCUSSIONS over the electronic media. With all this it was expected that conditions on the matter shall improve and crime position as a whole including those against WOMEN would show certain signs of improvement. On the ground, unfortunately conditions are as they were earlier. Rather on daily basis LARGE NUMBER of incidents of RAPES/ACID ATTACKS/DOWRY DEATHS besides many other and all types of general crimes ,continue to come to the public glare through the media. This only shows that the system has not taken up the matter of crimes in general and that against women in particular with the seriousness the matter deserves or they are not able to take positive and affective decisions due to either lack of will to do/capacity to do/political compulsions where the system remains gagged as many in the LAW MAKING BODIES may be involved in criminal activities themselves including in the incident in question. Other wise too till CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN are taken up separately from general law and order conditions, improvements seem not possible.

On this HOLI festival media reported along with photo graphs that WIDOWS who are huddled in some small living places as store material were in VRINDAVAN permitted to play Holi amongst them selves. It is informed that these ladies were not permitted even this much earlier. Going by these media reports, this issue became a little open as such need was felt about abolition of this CUSTOM of throwing off the widows out of their families. Most such thrown off widows we understand are herded at two prominent TEMPLE TOWNS ,i.e .VRINDAVAN & KASHI . These widows are then compelled to live in INHUMAN LIVING CONDITIONS/ MANY HERDED in some congested places with lack of basic amenities/totally cut off from their families and equally from the society. It is understood that their whole lives remain on beggary/doing some small type of jobs including Bhajhans at the temples. This is also reported that once such ladies are dumped at such temple cities none from their EARSTWHILE families ever take their care and these women are treated as good as dead for them. On the one hand this speaks ill of our social CUSTOMS and on the other hand must be shame on the part of those who indulge in such practices and also on our entire society which TOLERATES such illogical practices and rise not in revolt against such bad CUSTOMS and CRUELITY AGAINST WOMANHOOD. Request as such is made to you in particular knowing your interest in matters concerning this society and Nation , to please take up these issues as early as possible to get such BAD CUSTOMS abolished /and also to ensure safe return of such ladies to their respective families , ensuring that they are no more ill treated IN THEIR FAMILIES. Rather throwing off such ladies can be treated as act of murder on part of the perpetrators, as their thinking and actions force the living humans to live LIVES OF THE DEAD PERSONS .It must be in the memory of many thinking people like you about still worst custom of SATI and CHILD MARRIEGES. The custom of SATI we understand has been totally abolished .This was possible due to Vision and actions of some thinkers who must have been supported by others. If that still worst custom could be eradicated, then the one lesser cruel to that can also be eradicated .NEED IS ONLY FOR all in politics/the dharma gurus and so on to up their sleeves and act.

Similarly, there is an urgent need to take up the issue of DOWERY. Some limits need be fixed for expenses on WEDDINGS. It can be mandated that wedding functions be not held at open places like BIG FARM HOUSES/MARRIAGE LAWNS/VIVAH MANDAPAMS where people gather in thousands/even some times touching LACs. The number of guests on both sides should not exceed 50 in any case. Then a watch can also be kept on other expenses incurred by families on both sides, specially on the side of the brides. The purpose also is to ensure that uneven male/female ratios improve and also to put a check on the VULGUR WASTE OF MONEY AS WELL AS EATABLES and WASTAGE OF NATURAL RESOURCES, particularly land , water, milk, vegetables, etc. This may also free the parents of girl child of coming Burden on them in shape of dowry that they may have to shell on their marriages. It must be in public memory that one ANTI DOWRY ACT is passed by the parliament, but unfortunately the contents of the act are not followed either by the LAW MAKERS or the public in general. After all public knows that law makers themselves are openly flouting the provisions. So only the general public feels not the necessity to follow. LET the public come up to act. Also take steps to control LAW AND ORDER CONDITIONS as a whole ,so that the parents of girl child may get free from tensions of protection of their daughters from all type of crimes including PHYSICAL ONES. ENSURING SPEEDY JUSTICE DELIVERY IN ALL CRIMINAL CASES MAY ALSO HELP WOMEN’S PROTECTION AGAINST CRIMES.
