                                  CORRECTING - WRONG PRIORITIES IN EDUCATION


More than 20 days from now Media reported “RESPONDING TO THE GROWING CONCERN OVER THE LACK OF GENDER SENSATIZATION AMONG THE YOUTH“ central board of Secondary education (CBSE) plans to introduce an elective course in human rights and gender studies in its schools from coming academic session.”---From the report it seems the emphasis by the Board is to create awareness of RIGHTS of self or others as humans among the students and also to pass on EDUCATION ON GENDER SPECIFIC. These steps seem to have been taken by the board after happening of the 16/12 rape case in Delhi. In this very context a few thoughts are expressed here to after.

ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS:-Good it is that all members of the society remain concerned with HUMAN RIGHTS. This should inculcate the habits of being concerned with others and being responsible citizens. That such good tendencies are now on the AGENDA of EDUCATION BOARD is still very fine. The other opinion in this matter is that just now too much emphasis is being laid on RIGHTS INSTEAD OF ON DUTIES. Rights are like spreading hand in DEMANDING POSTURE, so should not be treated as virtuous a culture. On the other hand if emphasis is laid more on duties than rights, it should develop culture of being GIVERS, when the hands are kept high. In this case too, in respect of HUMAN RIGHTS if we call it duties, as human beings and towards one and all, this may create more positiveness and better esteem in all members of the society. Doing so, may be more positive and the results may be still better. There fore, request is that at all levels more emphasis need be laid on DUTIES THAN RIGHTS for self and others. Presently, too much emphasis is laid on SERVING THE POOR and the otherwise weak in the society. This message is going too loud to the extent that such ones feel as if it is their right to be served and cared for by one and all, which only develops more BEGGER TENDENCIES AND LAZINESS with in this class. Would it not be more prudent and proper instead to inculcate in one and all the culture to be SELF CARING AND SELF SUFFICIENT, pointing out their own duties towards them selves /their families and all others around about them by living SYSTAMATIC LIFE STYLE/coming out of LAZINESS limiting their own family size, so that they do not have to be looking to others for help. Duty of the society instead need be to EDUCATE the deprived ones over proper life style and for moving towards SELF SUFFICIENCY .

GENDER STUDIES :- Basically while one is a student, he/she needs be EDUCATED IN FULL so as to make the self developed all round. This matter should be covered as such only. Just now LITERACY meaning AKSHAR GYAN/knowing of alphabets/ numerical /knowing of some theories/some data’s and so on by doing rotes and passing out of some examinations /getting certificates/diplomas or degrees including doctorates are treated as education. Where as this may not be the real purpose of literacy even. The real purpose may be served if the following few points too are taken in to consideration during schooling, I mean up to any/highest level of studies.

1) Most important and beneficial may be making one and all aware of the positive results of following ETHICS AND ETHICAL BEHAVIOUR,i.e.thinking to make one and all aware /doing the positives and discarding all that is negative/evil.

2) To make one and all aware of the negative effects of GENDER DIFFERENTIATION and SEX INDULGENCE by educating about the positive effects of CELEBACY(brahmcharya) quoting examples of Hanumam (hero of the epic Ramayan) who due to this only was able to cross the SEA and CARRY THE MOUNTAINS and such others the likes of Swami Daya Nand Saraswati who could make the then king bow to his feet and was able to start a new thinking sect. of Arya samaj. Then Swami Vivekanand who during a very short span of life could give so much to this country and the world by positive and constructive thoughts. The subject of ETHICS can be made regular subject in schooling even for those going for the top literacy levels, where passing this subject must be made mandatory.

3)During schooling from lowest to the highest standards, it may do good to pass on information in respect of LAWS RELATING TO CRIMES in particular and then the end results there of when in most cases criminals may be caught and put into jail. The students need to know the troubles and hardships/torchers during investigations and in jail. Such types of information if put deep in the minds of each and every student ,are sure to make most to be LAW ABIDING and may be afraid of doing any wrongs .For this too it needs be made mandatory to pass the subject to be eligible for promotion to the next standard.

4) Just now it is observed that a large number of employees are paid very high salaries and are also given hefty perquisites. This helps the such ones in leading LUXURIOUR LIFE STYLE. Their children too indulge them selves similarly, resulting in their needs getting expanded ,including leading towards CONSUMERISM AND RESULTANT CRIMES IN MANY CASES. There fore it may be good to pay the employees SUFFICIENT for reasonably comfortable lives. But more than that ,which can lead to luxurious life styles should never be given. Instead ,provisions need be made so that the persons continue to get reasonable money for comfortable retired life. This is still more necessary as at present the culture of single family livings has increased, where parents who may have to depend on their children may be in troubles only in absence of ample provisions for old age.

5) Due to increased number of programs on TV ,many in the families including the children remain glued to these programs. Such programs, we learn continue round the clock, sufficient to spoil proper and regular way of living. Mostly the programs do not pass on POSITIVENESS. Rather depict too much of nearness between the opposite genders and also about luxuries/family disputes and free life style. This may do well to ensure that TV programs after say about 10PM are either switched off or there after only EDUCATION/POSITIVENESS are telecast. During the day too programs should be such mostly which help one and all to be considerate/ concerned to the society as a whole, avoiding screening of ornaments/MOUJ MASTI /luxurious life style /expensive functions /love affairs and family disputes. I do not mean that this world be made too dry. But still it can be made lively by depicting POSITIVENESS/EDUCATION and ethics.

6)While as student and engaged in studies, it may do good to call the fellow students as DIDI/BHAIYA –SISTER/BROTHER or its equivalent in different languages going by different regions. This may help preventing too much of gender attractions and also may help the students lives to be SATWIK/CELEBATE (MANSA,VACHA, KARMANA)

7)The depleting percentage of FEMALES against Males IS going to create more sex related crimes as satisfaction of Natural Needs of some of the males may remain unsatisfied and such persons may be allured to go for snatching their un fulfilled basic needs . Then the why of the problem may be the off shoots of vulnerability of the fair sex against crimes/the vulgar amount of money needed for their marriages may tend the expecting parents to get rid of such children in the wombs it self . This aspect of our LAW AND ORDER and CONTROL OVER THE SOCIETY IN ORDER TO mandate marriages least expensive and the occasions least ostentatious. This may help control over these problems of depleting numbers of females and the connecting crimes taking place as a result.

8) As of now tendency with the girls has developed to wear clothes too much tight /exposing their body parts, which may allure the males to be attacking them when ever they get a chance /and courage to do this. In the gardens having beautiful flowers/proper fencing is very necessary, so that the outsiders take not the courage to pluck. The sociologists/the Govt.machinery as well as Dharam Gurus AND THE SOCIETY AS A WHOLE may take care.

What ever has been written here to fore in the mentioned few paragraphs point wise, needs better teachers who can pass on such education to the students. For that purpose systems can be devised to TEACH THE TEACHERS at all levels about all these subjects. All must be mandated to pass these subjects with at least about 60/70% marks, so that they are made competent enough to take up such subjects. For those in the teaching class who are not able to clear these subjects/some action at the administrative levels can be thought of. A few days back a case in HARYANA STATE has come to the fore ,where an EX.CM /his son and their cronies have been found indulged in appointing many substandard teachers some about 12 years from now by giving some extra marks to their target group of beneficiaries to make them eligible for selection over those who had really scored much better and were naturally more suitable for the job. This can be like playing with the future of this country. Though in this case about 50 persons are reported charged for the fraud and are in jails. But the irreparable damage to our education system and the students under such teachers is already done.

At present too, in the name of RESERVATIONS in selections/promotions in all type of Govt. jobs –extra marks are given or their minimum eligibility marks have been brought down on the basis of CASTE/COMMUNITY of the candidate to facilitate their selections/promotions . When those securing less are taken in jobs and/or promoted out of turn over those who do much better, besides creating heart burns are sure to put road blocks in speedy developments at all levels including in literacy/education. Those in the political class/the Government /the law makers who have been mandated to do for the NATION AS A WHOLE BUT ARE PARTISAN too, can be considered for punishments like in the Haryana case. In this case the POLITICAL CLASS of all shades who for VOTE BANK CONSIDERATIONS are doing this all to get such negative bills passed in the Parliament/for extension of the facility and also those in the law making bodies, oppose not the measures, again fearing VOTE BANK LOSS to them can be treated as responsible . The case of such ones too need be clubbed with the HARYANA EDUCATION APPOINTMENT FRAUD CASE .Here request is made to all concerned with the future of this ,may please take up at appropriate levels.

Someone has said “LAMHON NE KHATA KI THI SADIYON NE SAZA PAAI” So, committing wrongs for sake of vote just now/our future generations are going to suffer/ pay through the nose.
